Nutrition Tip
Fiber is an important component to most diets.  It can help you feel full longer, which may help with weight management.  Fiber also helps to regulate blood glucose levels, cholesterol, and can help maintain the health of your colon.  To increase the amount of fiber in your diet, eat whole grains, like whole wheat bread, oatmeal, and bran cereals.  Make sure your eating at least two servings of fruit per day and three to five servings of vegetables.  A handful of nuts or seeds make a good snack too.  Most adults need somewhere between 25 and 35 grams of fiber a day.  When increasing the amount of fiber in your diet, make sure to do so slowly unless you may experience some abdominal discomfort - increase by approximately five grams per week.  Remember to drink plenty of waterFor more information on fiber read this ADA fact sheet.
